Regulations
Registration: Adults and juveniles; 2 tiers; at conviction; within 30 days of moving or entering the state; foreign convictions not registrable; notification of changes: 10 days prior
Notification: passive, or active on case-by-case basis; mandatory "when necessary for public protection"; within 14 days before release; applicable to adults and juveniles; offender required to notify law enforcement for college where attending or working
Risk Designation: 4 specified tiers; no provision for hearing, "risk assessment screening" only, unless prosecutor finds hearing is warranted for those assessed as sexually violent predators
Tracking: verification of registry info 90 days or 6 months; duration of registration rests on petition after 15 years or life for adults, 10 years or till age 21 (whichever longer) for juveniles; FBI notified
Residency Requirements: applies to Level 3 and 4 offenders; not to reside within 2,000 feet of public/private elementary or secondary school or day care; home schooling prohibited if offender lives at home; cannot live with minor under certain circumstances
