Regulations

Registration: Adults and juveniles "convicted" of adult charge, not "adjudicated", regardless of being sentenced as a juvenile; 2 tiers; within 2 days of release from custody or supervision; within 2 days of establishing a temporary or permanent residence; foreign convictions not registrable

Notification: passive but active for sexual predators; permissive for most registrants, but mandatory for targeted sexual predators; within 48 hours for targeted sexual predators only; applicable to sex offender adults and juveniles charged as adults; offender required to notify law enforcement for college where attending or working; notification of changes: 2 days

Risk Designation: no specified tiers; lifetime registrant may petition for removal after 20 yrs

Tracking: verification of registry info consistent with Wetterling Act; duration of registration is life or upon petition after 10 years (if age 18 and under) or 20 years (if adult); electronic monitoring "when deemed necessary" by the community control or probation officer and ordered by the court

Residency Requirements: applies if on probation and the victim was under the age of 18; not ot reside within 1,000 feet of school, day care center, park, playground, or other place where children regularly congregate

Penalties: 3rd degree felony
