Regulations
Registration: Adults; 2 tiers; 48 hours after arriving in any county; foreign convictions not registrable; notification of changes: within 5 working days
Notification: active; permissive for level 1, mandatory for levels 2 and 3; no specified time frame; applicable to adult and juvenile sex offenders found guilty after January 1, 1997; offender required to notify law enforcement for college where attending or working
Risk Designation: 3 specified tiers; no provision for hearing
Tracking: verification of registry info annually, to be sent back by mail within 10 days; duration of registration 10 years from release, probation, or parole or until sentencing court finds offender no longer suffers from mental abnormality (after at least 10 years), or life if aggravated or repeat offense
Penalties: Misdemeanor if underlying crime was misdemeanor; otherwise, Class IV felony
