Regulations
Registration: Adults and juveniles; 3 tiers; upon release from state prison and within 24 hours of release with local authority at sentencing; within 24 hours of release from federal prison; foreign convictions are registrable; notification of changes: within 10 days outgoing, within 24 hours incoming under state jurisdiction, within 30 days incoming outside state jurisdiction, name change within 5 days, address days within 72 hours (same county), 24 hours (new county), and 10 days (notice to old county)
Notification: active; permissive ("when the police, etc. determine it to be necessary to protect the public"), but mandatory by publication for level 3 offenders; within at least 14 days before release, a.s.a.p. when offender moves into jurisdiction; applicable to adult and juvenile sex offenders; offender required to notify law enforcement for college where attending or working
Risk Designation: 3 specified tiers; no provision for hearing
Tracking: verification of registry info 90 days or annually, by mail form; duration of registration 10 years, 15 years, or upon petition granted
Residency Requirements: supervisory board may not approve residence of sex offender if within close proximity to schools, child care, playgrounds, etc.
Penalties: Class C felony if convicted of felony/federal/out of state offense; otherwise gross misdemeanor
