Jessica’s Law mandates a minimum 25-year prison sentence and lifetime electronic
monitoring for adults convicted of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 12. Stop Child
Predators has helped pass versions of the law in 46 states.
— Stacie Rumenap, SCP President

Stop Child Predator's (SCP) model legislation, The Sexual Offenses Against Children Act, was modeled after Florida’s Jessica’s Law. Jessica’s Law was named after Jessica Lunsford, the nine-year-old girl who was abducted, raped, and murdered in Florida in 2005 by a twice-convicted sex offender.

Jessica's Law mandates a minimum 25-year prison sentence and lifetime electronic monitoring for adults convicted of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 12. Forty-four states have adopted a version of the law.

Since our founding in 2006, SCP has successfully passed versions of Jessica's Law in 46 states. SCP continues to advocate for the law to be enacted in four states: Idaho, Illinois, New York, and Hawaii.

JESSIE'S DAD DOCUMENTARY

Jessica's Lunsford's father, Mark Lunsford, continues to serve as Chairman of Stop Child Predators' Advisory Board. He is committed to protecting children from sexual predators by fighting to pass his daughter's namesake legislation in all 50 states.

Jessie's Dad is an award-winning, hour-long documentary that follows Mark Lunsford's evolution from victim to child advocate. A twice-convicted sexual predator murdered Lunsford's 9-year-old daughter Jessica in 2005. To honor Jessica's memory and prevent future tragedies, 46 states have now passed Jessica's Law, which requires mandatory minimum sentences and electronic monitoring for convicted sex offenders.

Named Best Documentary at the 2011 ITN Distribution Film and New Media Festival in Los Angeles, "Jessie's Dad" is now on iTunes andGoogle Play. The film has won prestigious honors such as the CINE Special Jury and Direct Cinema Outstanding Documentary awards.
